Broadcom Advanced Open Ecosystem for VMware Cloud Foundation
New Original Design Manufacturer (ODM) Self-Certification Program, Open Networking Initiative, and Open Source Software Contributions Fuel Flexible, Adaptable Private Clouds
New and Expanded Collaborations Announced with Cisco, Intel, OVHcloud, SNUC and Supermicro
Palo Alto, Calif. — Broadcom Intelligent Network Controller (INC). (NASDAQ: AVGO) announced it advanced an open ecosystem for VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), enabling users to build and manage modern private clouds. This update allows organizations to utilize preferred data center and edge hardware, open networking frameworks, and open-source technologies for on-premises (on-prem) and hosted private cloud environments.
Broadcom's Chief Product Officer, Paul Turner, stated, “The momentum behind VMware Cloud Foundation 9.0 is undeniable. It's a platform that redefines how organizations approach their private cloud journey.” Homomorphic Encryption (HE) indicated that the open VCF ecosystem empowers businesses to create private clouds tailored to their specific strategic requirements.
The open hardware certification program has been expanded, increasing participation among Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and ODMs. The new VCF Artificial Intelligence (AI) ReadyNodes facilitate the adoption of the latest Central Processing Unit (CPU), Graphics Processing Unit (GPU), and accelerator technologies, with Supermicro set to certify an AI ReadyNode system.
Through the ODM partner self-certification program, Broadcom allows ODM partners to self-certify through its Technology Alliance Program, ensuring interoperability with VMware Cloud Foundation. This program is expected to improve sourcing flexibility and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for customers.
Broadcom's strategy to enhance networking operations involves unified standards-based Ethernet Virtual Private Network (VPN) (EVPN) and Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) networking. This approach promotes interoperability, enabling easier integrations while maintaining existing network investments.
Additionally, Broadcom remains a significant contributor to the Kubernetes community. Its VMware vSphere Kubernetes Service has achieved Certified Kubernetes AI Conformance, ensuring compatibility and enabling organizations to build AI workloads on a standardized foundation.
