Summit expands data center and cloud scale with acquisition of HorizonIQ

Summit expanded its managed IT infrastructure offerings by acquiring HorizonIQ, a provider of high-performance bare-metal and private cloud platforms. The acquisition incorporates automation-driven provisioning technology and increases Summit's data center resources.

This development broadens Summit's infrastructure capabilities with additional private cloud options and increased data center capacity, which supports deliverable performance and reliability across its global platform.

HorizonIQ's technology portfolio includes support for VMware, Hyper-V, Proxmox environments, and automation tools designed to simplify bare-metal deployment with cloud-like speed. The integration adds Proxmox to Summit's cloud portfolio, enabling more flexible deployment choices.

The acquisition covers nine new data centers, automated bare metal provisioning, and expansion of private cloud resources. HorizonIQ's services will continue without interruption as the integration proceeds, with their teams and technology incorporating into Summit's brand.

Andre Wu, CEO of Summit, said, “Summit’s high-touch service and engineering depth, paired with HorizonIQ’s innovative automation expertise, strengthens our ability to provide the robust infrastructure and cloud solutions our clients rely on.” Ali Marashi, President and CTO at HorizonIQ, said, “From the beginning, HorizonIQ has focused on taking the complexity out of running dedicated infrastructure. By joining Summit, we can bring that same simplicity and automation to a larger footprint of data centers and give customers more choice in how they deploy critical workloads.”

The companies indicated plans to integrate HorizonIQ’s technology and personnel into Summit’s platform during the coming months, maintaining existing service levels throughout the transition.
