STMicroelectronics completes acquisition of NXP MEMS business

STMicroelectronics completed the purchase of NXP Semiconductors’ Microgrid Energy Management System (MEMS) sensors business, a transaction that involved products for automotive safety as well as sensors intended for industrial applications.

The companies first disclosed the agreement in July 2025 and obtained regulatory clearance before closing; the press release stated the deal broadened ST’s global sensors capabilities and covered both automotive safety and non-safety product lines.

The acquired operation consisted of MEMS sensor product lines for automotive safety and non-safety uses and for industrial sensor applications, as described in the release, and the announcement referenced ST’s role as an integrated device manufacturer with manufacturing facilities and a semiconductor supply chain.

The closing transferred ownership of NXP’s MEMS sensors business to ST; supporting materials attached to the release identified the completed transaction and provided contact information for investor and media inquiries.

The release included forward-looking statements and a list of risk factors, and it contained an initial assessment that it expected the acquired business to contribute in the mid-forties million dollars range to ST’s revenues in the first quarter of 2026.
