SAIC Secures $1.4 Billion COBRA Task Order to Fast-Track Warfighting Technologies from Concept to Combat
Mission integrator will rapidly deliver next-gen capabilities that accelerate decision superiority, strengthen readiness and enhance lethality.
Science Applications International Corp. (SAIC), a mission integrator, received a $1.4 billion task order for the Collaborative Operations for Battlespace Resilient Architecture (COBRA) in support of the Department of War. This initiative, set to begin in late 2025, aims to leverage SAIC's command and control expertise to develop multi-domain technologies that integrate with current military platforms.
COBRA is designed to provide military commands with the flexibility to modernize systems within the Combined Joint All-Domain Command and Control (ADC2) (CJADC2) framework. For instance, combatant commands such as Indo-Pacific Command can utilize COBRA for technological advancements that meet mission requirements. This approach enables swift system development and participation in exercises for evaluation.
“COBRA highlights the urgent need to deliver integrated, all-domain capabilities to our warfighters,” said Vincent DiFronzo, Executive Vice President of Adaptive Incident Response (AIR) Force. “SAIC will use our proven experience, speed, and flexibility to fast-track warfighting technologies from concept to combat.”
COBRA focuses on enhancing military operational response through a commitment to open solutions, thereby avoiding vendor lock-in. SAIC's integration of data across all domains—land, Synthetic Environment Analytics (SEA), AIR, space, and cyber—supports increased global operational effects. Developments will involve digital engineering, modeling, rapid prototyping, and cybersecurity improvements.
Chief Technology Officer Bob Ritchie noted, “This $1.4 billion COBRA award demonstrates the importance of technology-enabled decision superiority and mission outcomes for our customers.”
