QuSecure Adds U.S. Navy Rear Admiral Doug Small to Federal Advisory Board
QuSecure said U.S. Navy Rear Admiral Doug Small (Ret.) joined its Federal Advisory Board. The company linked the appointment to federal work on post-quantum cryptography migration initiatives.
According to the release, agencies moved from planning to execution on PQC migration, in part after official directives. It cites a Department of War post-quantum cryptography strategy calling for a department-wide shift to secure communications, data, and command and control systems, and it references President’s Executive Order 14409 titled “Securing the Nation Against Advanced Cryptographic Attacks.”
The release said Small most recently served as the Commander of the Naval Information Warfare Systems Command (NAVWAR), overseeing a $6B annual budget and a global workforce of 11,000 professionals. It also states he served as the first Direct Reporting Program Manager for Project Overmatch from 2020 to 2024, and that he later worked as the Program Executive Officer for Integrated Warfare Systems (PEO IWS).
QuSecure’s Federal Advisory Board is described as a group of former senior military, intelligence, and government officials created to guide the company’s work with U.S. Government agencies. In the release, Brian Cunningham, EVP Strategy & Growth, QuSecure, said, “Doug is an executive leader with a proven track record of driving large-scale innovation and disruptive acquisition strategies within the Department of Defense,” and Small said, “It is more important than ever that we bring real agility and post-quantum security for our nation’s information protection.”
The company also described Small’s prior roles, including chairing NATO and bilateral cooperative programs, and it said the Department of War strategy and Executive Order 14409 supported the push toward post-quantum migration planning and implementation.
