Atsign's NoPorts enables secure communication for OpenWrt devices

Enables secure, private device communication and remote management - even behind CGNAT and restrictive networks

Atsign announced that its NoPorts technology is now available for devices running OpenWrt. This addition enables secure, peer-to-peer device communication and remote management, enhancing user privacy and security in challenging network environments.

NoPorts on OpenWrt eliminates the need for open ports and centralized servers, keeping devices invisible to potential attackers. This upgrade extends privacy benefits to a wide array of devices, including routers and Internet of Things (IoT) devices operating on OpenWrt.

Colin Constable, CTO at Atsign, remarked, “This is a fundamental shift in how devices connect and communicate. By embedding NoPorts into their OpenWrt-based devices, manufacturers can offer their customers a truly secure and private way to connect and manage their networks and the devices behind them.”

Key benefits highlighted include secure Zero Trust direct device communication, universal remote management, enhanced security, simplified IoT deployments, and the elimination of traditional attack vectors. Manufacturers can now facilitate private device access on hard-to-reach networks such as mobile and CGNAT environments, improving customer satisfaction and security posture.

NoPorts utilizes Atsign’s atPlatform, which provides a peer-to-peer architecture that avoids the complexities of centralized servers and open ports. This leads to secure and efficient communication for devices, even within restrictive environments.

This technology demonstrates Atsign's commitment to security solutions that allow manufacturers and customers to control their devices without compromising usability.
