CompTIA updates Data+ certification to reflect new trends in data analytics

CompTIA updated its Data+ certification to address recent advancements in data analytics technologies and practices. The revised exam, CompTIA Data+ (V2), incorporates knowledge on Generative AI (GenAI), Integrated Development Environments (IDEs), and regular expression testers (RegEx), which are increasingly vital for data professionals.

The certification, available globally, is designed to enhance data literacy among business and technology employees. “Earning this certification helps business and technology professionals elevate their level of data literacy, which is essential for immediate on-the-job success and upward career mobility,” said Katie Hoenicke, senior vice president of product development at CompTIA.

Data analyst and scientist roles are projected to grow significantly, with CompTIA noting a job growth rate 414% higher than the national average over the next decade. As reliance on cloud services and data infrastructure increases, understanding how to effectively access and analyze data becomes crucial. CompTIA Data+ validates competencies in data mining, analysis, and governance, supporting informed decision-making in businesses.

The exam evaluates abilities in several areas, such as data concepts, acquisition, preparation, analysis, and reporting. The certification is vendor-neutral, differentiating it from other data analytics credentials that often focus on specific technologies.

CompTIA Data+ is compliant with ISO 17024 standards and provides assurance of the program's quality and relevance. Additionally, new learning options through CertMaster aim to improve retention and apply knowledge directly to job tasks, accommodating various learning styles.
