BAE Systems rolls out CV9035 MkIV to Slovakia

BAE Systems Hägglunds unveiled the first CV9035 MkIV intended for the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic during a ceremonial rollout in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden, marking a program milestone under a government-to-government agreement.

The rollout followed production of the first vehicle in the second half of 2025 and the start of comprehensive testing in Sweden. The contract covered 152 vehicles, represented one of the largest modernization projects of the Slovak Armed Forces in decades, and formed a step toward fulfilling Slovakia's commitments to NATO.

The Slovak variant was equipped with a 35mm Bushmaster III cannon, an advanced fire control system, and a modern digital architecture. It also included an active protection system solution, an integrated advanced anti-tank guided missile, enhanced ballistic and mine protection, and an engine delivering up to 1,000 horsepower, with provisions to integrate additional sensors and weapon systems.

The supply chain included close to 30 Slovak companies and expanded during 2025 to add Hriňovské Strojárne, Konštrukta–Defense, Managed Service Mesh (MSM) Land Systems, S.M.S. spol sro, Source-to-Target Validation (STV) Machinery and ThyssenKrupp Rothe Erde Slovakia. Slovak companies accounted for more than 40% of the contract's total value and domestic partners participated in production and delivery activities.

The first vehicles were undergoing comprehensive testing in Sweden, vehicles for two additional NATO and European Union member countries were in production, and the CV9035 MkIV was described as designed to be upgraded over time.
