Northrop Grumman's Cygnus Departure Scheduled for March 28
Northrop Grumman's Cygnus spacecraft is set to depart the International Space Station on March 28 after successfully delivering over 8,200 pounds of supplies, scientific investigations, and commercial products as part of its 21st resupply mission for NASA. The departure will be covered live by NASA, allowing viewers to witness the undocking process.
Before its release, flight controllers will command the Canadarm2 robotic arm to detach Cygnus from the Unity module's Earth-facing port. NASA astronaut Nichole Ayers will oversee the spacecraft's systems during its exit from the station.
Following the departure, Cygnus will be commanded to deorbit on March 30, where it will safely burn up upon re-entry into Earth’s atmosphere. The spacecraft arrived at the space station on August 6, 2024, after being launched on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket.
