ABI Research projects core grid management software market to reach US$77.2B

Application Binary Interface (ABI) Research projected the market for core grid management software solutions would reach US$77.2 billion by 2035 and described energy resilience as shifting beyond managing grid strain to enabling additional electricity supply.

The report said rising numbers of data centers, the expansion of Electric Vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, and broader economic development were placing pressure on local electricity grids, intensifying competition for access as utilities struggled to keep pace with demand.

ABI Research noted that utilities required the infrastructure to integrate new generation into existing networks and cited International Energy Agency figures showing 750 GW of new renewable capacity would be installed globally in 2025 while an additional 1,700 GW remained unconnected due to grid constraints.

Those findings appeared in ABI Research's Smart Energy Update report, which formed part of the Smart Energy research service and included research, data, and ABI Insights; the press release also identified ABI Research as a global technology intelligence firm positioned at the intersection of technology solution providers and end-market companies.

“Grid management software solutions will be critical technologies for utility companies and grid operators to connect critical infrastructure, commercial buildings, and households to the grid and meet their energy needs,” said Michael Larner, distinguished analyst at ABI Research. “Supply and demand continue to be out of step with one another. Grid management software will be key to maximizing availability and minimizing customer disruption,” said Michael Larner.

ABI Research forecast the market for core grid management software solutions would reach US$77.2 billion by 2035.
