Wireless Infrastructure Association comments on House broadband bills

The Wireless Infrastructure Association (WIA) issued a statement after the U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee voted to advance multiple pieces of broadband permitting legislation, a development the group framed as relevant to connectivity and the role of local governments.

WIA said it commended committee leadership for passing several measures aimed at improving broadband permitting and it specifically expressed thanks to Rep. Buddy Carter for Healthcare Information System (HIS) role with the American Broadband Deployment Act of 2025.

The committee passed H.R. 1343, Federal Broadband Deployment Tracking Act (Reps. Pfluger and Soto); H.R. 1588, Facilitating DIGITAL Applications Act (Reps. Miller-Meeks and Dingell); H.R. 1665, DIGITAL Applications Act (Reps. Cammack and Matsui); H.R. 1681, Expediting Federal Broadband Deployment Act (Reps. Evans and Craig); H.R. 1731, Standard FEES Act (Reps. Palmer and Ryan); H.R. 6046, Broadband and Telecommunications RAIL Act (Reps. Joyce, Landsman, and Peters); and H.R. 2289, American Broadband Deployment Act of 2025 (Rep. Carter).

WIA released the statement and provided an organizational description in the release: the Wireless Infrastructure Association represents the businesses that build, develop, own, and operate the nation’s wireless infrastructure, and it advocates for the widespread, responsible deployment of wireless infrastructure to enable connectivity everywhere.

“A national broadband permitting framework that provides a path to accelerated connectivity in every community in America while respecting the important role of local governments is essential. Passing these critical bills will unlock connectivity everywhere and power America’s digital future.” Patrick Halley, President and CEO, WIA said.

The committee passed the listed bills and they were set to advance to the full House for consideration.
