VIAVI Solutions implements colocation at VALOR Lab
VIAVI Solutions Inc. has implemented a colocation capability at its VALOR Lab-as-a-Service facility in Chandler, Arizona. This enhancement addresses increasing demand for detailed testing services from Open Radio Access Network (O-RAN) (RAN) clients, supported by funding from the U.S. National Telecommunications and Information Administration's Public Wireless Supply Chain Innovation Fund.
Product Update
The colocation offering enables clients to utilize the lab for extended periods, facilitating comprehensive testing throughout a product's lifecycle. The infrastructure supports secure and isolated testing environments through network data segregation using VLANs.
Customer Use Case
Erik Probstfield, Senior Director at VIAVI, remarked, “We are excited to introduce this new colocation offering at VALOR. With two available engagement models, VALOR can now service both vendors who are looking for specific tests during the development and pre-certification process, as well as those seeking longer-term, comprehensive end-to-end and scalable testing.” This approach aligns with the goals of enhancing the development of open wireless infrastructure.
Technology Strategy
The facility also expands its offerings with additional resources such as RF chamber capabilities for testing Massive Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) and beamforming performance, utilizing VIAVI's NITRO Wireless Open RAN (ORAN) Test Suite. The VALOR Lab plays a role in supporting the growth of ORAN technology vendors, mitigating risks tied to in-house testing capabilities.
