Mitsubishi Electric acquires Nozomi Networks to enhance cybersecurity
Mitsubishi Electric Corporation announced an agreement to acquire Nozomi Networks, enhancing its competencies in Operational technology (OT), Internet of Things (IoT), and cybersecurity. The acquisition aligns with Mitsubishi Electric's objective of improving its cybersecurity services and operational resilience through the use of data and Artificial Intelligence (AI). The acquisition is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2025.
Nozomi Networks will function as a wholly owned subsidiary while preserving its brand, leadership, and existing customer relationships. This structure is intended to maintain service continuity for Nozomi's stakeholders, while allowing the company to benefit from Mitsubishi Electric's vast industrial expertise and technological capabilities.
The acquisition builds on a prior collaboration, particularly following Mitsubishi Electric's participation in Nozomi's Series E funding round totaling $100 million in March 2024. Leaders from both firms have expressed optimism about combining resources to improve cybersecurity measures and operational efficiencies for their industrial clients.
Satoshi Takeda, Senior Vice President at Mitsubishi Electric, acknowledged Nozomi's established reputation in OT security. He suggested that merging their resources would facilitate enhancements in customer service and support. Edgard Capdevielle, CEO of Nozomi Networks, underscored the commitment to ensure seamless service for current customers post-acquisition, with a reinforced focus on innovation driven by shared expertise.
With over a century of presence in the industrial domain, Mitsubishi Electric intends to bolster Nozomi's position in cybersecurity while facilitating digital transformation initiatives across critical infrastructures. The agreement also positions both organizations to advance cybersecurity solutions for various OT and IoT applications on a global scale.
