Itential launches MCP Server for secure AI integration in enterprises

Itential introduced the Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server at the Network Automation Forum's AutoCon 3 event. This server incorporates an orchestration and governance layer based on MCP, allowing for secure interactions between Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems, such as large language models and AI Operations (AIOps) platforms, and the Itential Platform.

As companies begin to implement AI technologies, they encounter difficulties in translating AI-generated actions into physical changes in infrastructure. The MCP Server links AI systems to the Itential Platform, ensuring that actions adhere to policy-driven workflows and validations, which are essential for building trust and visibility in enterprise AI adoption.

Peter Sprygada, Chief Architect at Itential, indicated that as AI agents develop, organizations need to maintain control and manage security. The MCP Server is designed to facilitate AI-driven infrastructure operations while ensuring compliance and auditability. Features include automation triggered by AIOps and self-service options for users, providing a structure for AI agents to collaborate while overseeing automated infrastructure changes.

Additionally, Itential revealed a partnership with AIOps provider Selector to improve automation features, enabling closed-loop communication between detection and remediation processes. This integration will be showcased at AutoCon 3 and Cisco Live, demonstrating the MCP Server's role in AI automation workflows.
