Broadband access equipment revenue rises 7% as fiber and fixed wireless services attract subscribers, Dell’Oro reports.

The recent analysis from Dell’Oro Group reveals that the Broadband Access market generated $4.7 billion in revenue during the second quarter of 2025. This represents a 7% increase from the previous quarter and a 1% increase year-over-year, indicating a competitive environment among broadband providers focused on subscriber growth amid economic challenges.

Market Dynamics

According to Jeff Heynen, Vice President at Dell’Oro Group, there is a noticeable trend toward increased spending by fiber and fixed wireless providers as they seek to attract subscribers from traditional cable operators. In tandem with this shift, investments in Data over Cable Service Interface Specifications (DOCSIS) infrastructure and Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) have dipped to their lowest levels since 1998.

Quarterly Insights

The Broadband Access and Home Networking report highlights critical developments, including a record high in spending on 5G Fixed Wireless CPE as operators push to grow their subscriber bases in the US, India, and other regions. Conversely, investments in DOCSIS infrastructure have fallen by 13% compared to last year due to lower demand for Remote PHY Devices and a decline in new vCMTS license acquisitions.

Conclusion

The findings underscore the changing dynamics in the broadband access sector, revealing a shift from DOCSIS technologies toward greater investments in fiber and fixed wireless solutions. This report from Dell’Oro Group provides actionable insights for stakeholders in the telecommunications industry.
