NVIDIA and Uber Partner to Scale Level 4 Mobility Network
NVIDIA announced a partnership with Uber to expand a global Level 4-ready mobility network leveraging the NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Hyperion 10 platform. This collaboration aims to develop advanced robotaxi and autonomous delivery services, targeting an autonomous fleet of 100,000 vehicles by 2027.
NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Hyperion 10 serves as a foundational architecture, allowing automakers to create vehicles capable of Level 4 autonomy. The platform supports the development of AI-powered, safe, and scalable fleets. Stellantis, Lucid, and Mercedes-Benz are among the manufacturers collaborating on vehicles designed for this ecosystem, along with Aurora and Volvo Autonomous Solutions focusing on freight solutions.
Uber plans to integrate human drivers and autonomous vehicles under one mobility service platform, enhancing the transition to autonomous urban transport. NVIDIA's CEO Jensen Huang emphasized the significant changes this technology brings to mobility. Dara Khosrowshahi, Uber’s CEO, highlighted the role of NVIDIA in advancing autonomous vehicle deployment.
The expanding Level 4 ecosystem includes companies such as Avride, May Mobility, and Pony.Artificial Intelligence (AI), all of which are working with NVIDIA to develop their technologies. In addition, NVIDIA introduced the Halos Certified Program, a safety evaluation framework to ensure compliance with rigorous AI safety standards for autonomous applications.
In the freight segment, Aurora and Volvo are working on Level 4 trucks powered by NVIDIA technology, broadening the application of autonomous systems beyond passenger mobility.
