Nord Security has released its annual Impact Report, detailing its initiatives regarding Greenhouse Gas Emissions (GHG), social responsibilities, and sustainability assessments. This document reinforces the company's commitment to enhancing digital safety while making a positive impact on environmental and community aspects.
Product Update
Co-founder Eimantas Sabaliauskas mentioned that the report showcases the company's dedication to helping users reclaim their digital autonomy. In 2024, Nord Security plans to introduce new products and tools designed to strengthen their cybersecurity offerings.
Environmental Impact
In this year's report, Nord Security expanded its reporting on GHG, addressing indirect emissions classified under Scope 3, which totaled 23,014 tCO2e. The findings revealed that many emissions stem from factors outside the company's direct control, prompting Nord to engage its suppliers in emissions reduction efforts.
In 2024, Nord Security colocated servers in 37 data centers globally, implementing low-power technology. Notably, 32 of these centers operated on renewable energy, allowing for half of the colocated servers to be powered sustainably.
Sustainability Measures
The firm has also prioritized various sustainability initiatives, with around 73% of its employees based in BREEAM-certified workspaces. Energy conservation measures, including automation of temperature regulation and optimized lighting, have been instituted across their locations.
Community Support
Nord Security has actively supported community initiatives, granting over 2,600 accounts to individuals in vulnerable situations to promote online safety. Additionally, it contributed more than €48K to aid organizations focused on providing assistance to Ukraine.
Regulatory Compliance
Last year, the organization evaluated its sustainability impacts and risks to adhere to the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). This comprehensive assessment aimed to synchronize sustainability evaluations with their overall Risk Management Framework (RMF), reinforcing their dedication to transparency in sustainability practices.
This report reflects Nord Security's ongoing efforts in environmental efforts and community support. The findings offer insights that may be relevant to enterprise IT decision-makers interested in sustainability practices within the tech sector.
