Nokia partners with Zayo for network enhancement

Nokia partnered with Zayo to deploy a next-generation Internet Protocol (IP) network architecture intended to improve Zayo’s network connectivity. This initiative began in New York and New Jersey, with plans for expansion to various markets and thousands of additional buildings.

The upgraded IP network aims to deliver enhanced services including cloud access and secure high-speed data center connectivity. Zayo's fiber network currently covers over 19 million fiber miles, connecting 400 markets and over 1,500 data centers globally.

The new architecture enables Zayo to rapidly deploy infrastructure in new areas, ensuring stable performance and resilience. The deployment features Nokia’s high-performance IP routers, designed to support increasing bandwidth demands, offering services up to 800G capacity.

“By partnering with Nokia, we’re setting a new standard for what’s possible in fiber-based connectivity,” said Aaron Werley, SVP of Engineering, Zayo. The new infrastructure will replace Zayo’s existing Provider Edge setup, enhancing operational efficiency and customer responsiveness.

Nokia’s advanced technology, including the FP5-based 7750 Service Router, supports Zayo in meeting evolving market demands. Jeff Valley, VP of IP Networks at Nokia, emphasized the collaboration’s potential to enhance network operations and service delivery.
