Nokia partners on optical network in Mexico and data center upgrades in Seoul - July 2025

Nokia has formed a partnership with MX Fiber to establish a high-speed optical transport backbone in Southeast Mexico. This project aims to improve internet access in states such as Chiapas and Tabasco, thereby promoting digital inclusion. The initiative utilizes Nokia’s Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) (DWDM) technology, which allows for scalable bandwidth of up to 200G.

Data Center Upgrade

In a separate initiative, Nokia is collaborating with Empyrion Digital to enhance operational capabilities at the KR1 Gangnam Data Center in Seoul, South Korea. This collaboration focuses on improving connectivity while addressing the rising demands for data traffic in the area using Nokia's data center solutions.

Private 5G Networks

Nokia has also partnered with Andorix to advance Private 5G networks in North America, specifically targeting the real estate sector. This partnership aims to provide enhanced connectivity solutions that improve operational efficiency and address cybersecurity concerns in commercial and industrial environments.

Leadership Update

Nokia recently appointed David Heard as President of Network Infrastructure. Previously serving as Chief Strategic Growth Officer, Heard will report to the CEO as part of a planned transition leading to Federico Guillén's retirement in December 2025.
