Micron Technology Launches 2600 NVMe SSD with QLC NAND

Micron Technology, Inc. has introduced the Micron 2600 Nonvolatile Memory Express (NVME) Solid-State Drive (SSD), aimed at providing a value client storage option for OEMs. This SSD features the first implementation of the 9th-generation QLC NAND technology, along with Micron’s Adaptive Write Technology, resulting in notable performance enhancements.

The Micron 2600 SSD achieves up to a 63% increase in sequential write speeds and a 49% boost in random write speeds when compared to leading value QLC and Total Lifecycle Carbon (TLC) SSDs. Mark Montierth, corporate vice president and general manager of the Mobile and Client Business Unit at Micron, remarked that the SSD combines performance aspects typically found in TLC drives, which may facilitate greater adoption of QLC NAND technology by Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) clients.
