KnowBe4 highlights distraction as a key cybersecurity risk

Findings from KnowBe4's survey with security professionals at Infosecurity Europe 2025 show how human risk management impacts cyber resilience.

Report Overview

KnowBe4 published a report titled *Navigating Cyber Threats: Infosecurity Europe 2025 Findings*, outlining that distraction is a key factor affecting cybersecurity. The survey included over 100 security professionals to evaluate ongoing cybersecurity challenges.

Key Findings

The report highlights distraction (43%) and insufficient security awareness training (41%) as primary reasons for employee vulnerability to cyberattacks, surpassing the complexity of technical threats. Phishing remains the predominant threat, reported by 74% of those surveyed, with impersonation being the most frequent method used.

Despite 65% of organizations intending to increase cybersecurity budgets, gaps in perceived effectiveness of AI-based tools were noted. Concerns regarding AI-generated threats were widespread, with 60% of organizations anticipating an increase in these types of incidents.

Confidence vs. Reality

Nearly 90% of respondents expressed confidence in their organizations' responses to cyberattacks, although breaches are reported regularly. Javvad Malik, KnowBe4's lead cybersecurity awareness advocate, remarked, “Cyber risk is not just about advanced technology; it is about human bandwidth and the cognitive load of today's fast-paced digital workplace.”

Recommendations

The report concludes with strategic recommendations to enhance security postures, emphasizing the importance of human risk management in addressing evolving cyber threats.
