Infosys and Telstra establish joint venture for AI cloud solutions
Infosys and Telstra have established a joint venture aimed at developing AI-enabled cloud services for businesses in Australia. This agreement includes Infosys acquiring a 75% ownership stake in Versent Group, a fully owned Telstra subsidiary that focuses on digital transformation solutions, allowing Infosys to lead operations while Telstra retains a 25% interest.
Versent Group employs approximately 650 specialists and offers expertise in crafting cloud strategies for various sectors such as government, education, and finance. This collaboration intends to integrate Versent's local knowledge with Infosys' global capabilities and Artificial Intelligence (AI) expertise to provide extensive digital solutions.
Infosys plans to enhance Versent’s cloud transition projects by leveraging its AI technologies and consulting skills. This venture aims to deliver increased value and assist organizations in refining their digital infrastructures throughout Australia.
Vicki Brady, CEO of Telstra, highlighted the potential of the collaboration, indicating it signifies a shared confidence in the partnership's success. Salil Parekh, CEO of Infosys, mentioned that incorporating Infosys Topaz will facilitate advanced AI capabilities within Versent’s services, improving customer experiences across the region.
The transaction is expected to close in the second half of the fiscal year 2026, subject to regulatory approvals and other conditions.
