Gulf Bridge International selects Nokia for enhanced network connectivity across the Middle East

Gulf Bridge International (GBI) selected Nokia to develop a new high-capacity optical network, enhancing connectivity across the Middle East. This project aims to deliver over 50 terabits (Throughput Benchmark (TB)) of capacity to meet the increasing demand for digital services, facilitating robust connectivity between Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.

The partnership will leverage Nokia's 1830 Global Express (GX) optical platform, designed to improve service delivery for cloud and content providers, telecom operators, and enterprises. The deployment of this technology is expected to provide enhanced network resilience and performance, featuring services between 100G and 400G.

GBI’s initiative also involves establishing an alternative terrestrial route through Iraq, which will circumvent traditional subsea corridors. This strategy seeks to offer enhanced diversity and reliability for data traffic in the region. Eng. Ahmad Mohamed AL-Kuwari, CEO of GBI, noted the significance of this collaboration in reinforcing high-quality infrastructure to support economic growth. Roque Lozano from Nokia highlighted the potential of this partnership in addressing growing data demands with sustainable connectivity solutions.
