New infrastructure will deliver 200 Mbps internet to public institutions, meeting the demands for a connected society.
Gilat Satellite Networks Ltd. (NASDAQ: GILT, TASE: GILT) announced that its Peruvian subsidiary, Gilat Perú, received approximately $60 million in orders from Pronatel, Peru’s national telecommunications program. This initiative aims to upgrade the Regional Broadband infrastructure in the regions of Apurímac, Huancavelica, and Ayacucho over a period of four years, with a service migration expected within the next 12 months.
This infrastructure improvement is projected to provide 200 Mbps internet access to nearly 800 public institutions, including schools, health centers, and police stations, across 280 localities. The project aims to address the digital divide in Peru, enhancing connectivity for rural communities to facilitate access to education, healthcare, and various public services.
