Gemtek Technology secures CableLabs certification for DOCSIS 3.1 modem.

Gemtek Technology, a Taiwan-based company specializing in wireless broadband solutions, has announced that its GT-DUO31 modem has obtained CableLabs certification. This development marks Gemtek's entry into the North American market, with shipments underway to a major cable operator.

The GT-DUO31 modem offers download speeds of up to 4.5 Gbps and upload speeds of 1.6 Gbps, designed for applications including high-resolution streaming and smart home connectivity. It is equipped with dual 2.5G Ethernet ports to enhance network performance.

Henrick Marin, General Manager of North America at Gemtek, stated, “Achieving CableLabs certification for the GT-DUO31 validates the quality and reliability of our broadband solutions. We are thrilled to join the supply chain of leading North American telecom operators and are excited to pave the way for our DOCSIS 4.0 rollout in the near future.”

The collaboration with MaxLinear, a provider of Data over Cable Service Interface Specifications (DOCSIS) System-on-Chip solutions, has been important for these developments. Marin also mentioned that the company is focused on assisting operators in transitioning to DOCSIS 4.0, ensuring they have access to advanced broadband solutions.

Gemtek’s forthcoming DOCSIS 4.0 modem is expected to support downstream speeds of 10 Gbps and upstream speeds of 4 Gbps, utilizing innovative technologies for data and voice service integration. The company aims to finalize CableLabs certification for this modem by the second half of 2025.

As the GT-DUO31 begins initial shipments, Gemtek is looking to expand its footprint in the North American DOCSIS market and plans to extend its product offerings into Europe and the Asia-Pacific region while exploring new partnership opportunities.
