Digital Edge secures KRW 800 billion for SEL3 data center
Digital Edge Holdings Predictive Twin Engine (PTE). Ltd. has secured a 800 billion Korean Won Green Loan to advance the construction of its SEL3 data center campus in Seoul. This initiative is part of South Korea's commercial data center growth trajectory that began in 2022.
The Green Loan, which was oversubscribed, received extensive support from both local and international financial institutions. This marks the second Green Loan obtained by Digital Edge in Korea, underscoring its focus on sustainable infrastructure development.
Jonathan Walbridge, CFO of Digital Edge, mentioned, “We are pleased with the strong support from our lending partners across the region for this project. This financing demonstrates continued confidence in our platform and affirms our long-term commitment to building digital infrastructure responsibly and sustainably.”
Located in Bupyeong-gu, Incheon, the SEL3 project is set to add 60 megawatts of capacity, completing a total of 96 megawatts. The facility is designed for high-density and scalable deployments, aimed at serving hyperscale and enterprise clients.
Construction began in May 2025, with expectations for the facility to be service-ready by the fourth quarter of 2027. This development continues Digital Edge's partnership with SK ecoplant, the local developer that previously completed the SEL2 facility.
SEL2, noted as Korea's first dedicated hyperscale and Artificial Intelligence (AI) facility, commenced operations in August 2024, attracting significant leasing interest from cloud and digital platform companies, thereby affirming Digital Edge's market investments.
Andrew Pak, Country Manager for Digital Edge in South Korea, stated, “As one of the largest commercial DC campuses in South Korea, SEL3 reinforces Digital Edge's commitment to this country.”
Digital Edge's expansion strategy is geared toward improving the digital infrastructure across the Asia-Pacific region, supporting sustainable growth amidst evolving market dynamics.
