Dell’Oro Group Reports 19% Growth in Mobile Core Networks

A report from Dell’Oro Group indicates that the Mobile Core Networks market has grown by 19 percent year-over-year in the second quarter of 2025, largely due to 5G Standalone (SA) service launches by Mobile Network Operators (MNOs).

Market Growth Overview

The analysis reveals a significant increase in the 5G Mobile Core Network sector, which expanded by 31 percent from the previous year. Additionally, the Voice Core segment recorded an 18 percent year-over-year growth, contributing positively to the Multicloud Networking (MCNS) landscape in 2025.

5G Standalone Launches

A total of 71 MNOs have introduced 5G SA services, including five new launches in 2025. Research Director Dave Bolan noted that the growth rate for the year is now estimated at 10 percent year-over-year due to rising subscriber numbers and network activations.

Advancements in Technology

The development of 5G SA networks is associated with features like 5G New Radio (NR), reduced capability (RedCap), and dynamic network slicing, which improves cost-efficiency for Internet of Things (IoT) devices and allows for optimized performance tailored to specific user demands.

Voice Core Development

MNOs are transitioning their voice cores to cloud-native systems, fostering growth in the Voice Core market while simultaneously bolstering the 5G Mobile Core segment's expansion.

Additional Insights

The report also indicates a 32 percent year-over-year growth for Multi-Access Edge Computing (MEC) in Q2 2025, projecting a total annual growth of 44 percent. Key vendors in the MCN market include Huawei, Ericsson, Nokia, and ZTE.
