Capgemini report: 60% of organizations expect AI as active member or supervisor.

Capgemini Research Institute has indicated that 60% of organizations anticipate Artificial Intelligence (AI) will act as an active team member or supervisor for other AI systems within the next year. This represents an increase from the current 44%. However, many organizations acknowledge being underprepared for this shift towards human-AI collaboration.

Generative AI Adoption

The report reveals a fivefold increase in Generative AI (GenAI) adoption over the past two years, with 30% of organizations actively implementing GenAI solutions. The sectors leading this adoption include telecom, consumer products, and aerospace and defense, particularly in customer operations and marketing functions.

Investment and Governance

Franck Greverie, Chief Technology & Portfolio Officer at Capgemini, remarked that while AI adoption is accelerating, it does not guarantee extensive deployment or return on investment. He pointed out the necessity of having a robust data foundation and effective governance mechanisms to ensure successful human-AI collaboration.

Current Satisfaction and Spending

The report indicates that 79% of organizations are satisfied with their GenAI outcomes. Furthermore, 88% of respondents increased their investments in GenAI over the past year, with an average spending rise of 9%. Nonetheless, many are encountering higher cloud consumption costs as they scale their AI initiatives.

Trust in AI Agents

Organizations expect AI agents to manage critical business processes across various functions, and there is optimism regarding their expanded roles in the future. However, 71% of organizations reported a lack of trust in autonomous AI agents, highlighting the need for enhanced governance frameworks, as only 46% have established AI governance policies.

Survey Background

The findings stem from a survey conducted by the Capgemini Research Institute in May 2025, involving 1,100 executives from organizations with annual revenues exceeding $1 billion.

This summary emphasizes key developments from the Capgemini blog post regarding the evolving role of AI in organizations and the ongoing challenges in governance and trust. It serves as a fact-based concise overview for enterprise IT leaders and technical decision-makers.
