Brightspeed secures $1.65 billion for fiber expansion

Brightspeed has secured $1.65 billion in funding to further develop its fiber network infrastructure in 20 states. This funding builds on a prior $575 million bond offering and an additional $3.7 billion raised earlier in August 2024. The initiative aims to enhance multi-gig-speed internet access for underserved areas, targeting more than five million homes and businesses.

Brightspeed has previously connected over 2.3 million locations with fiber, achieving an annual build rate of one million new sites while keeping operational costs manageable. This efficiency positions the company effectively within the fiber broadband market.

Michel Combes, CEO and executive chairman of Brightspeed, stated that this funding is vital for expanding services to more communities in need. He highlighted the company's robust foundation and leadership team as critical elements for delivering sustained value.

The company employs XGS-PON technology to offer symmetrical multi-gigabit internet speeds and was named the fastest internet service provider for 2025 by HighSpeedInternet.com. Brightspeed currently serves over 530 communities.
