Brightspeed completes fiber deployment in 11 Kansas communities

Brightspeed has confirmed the completion of its fiber network deployment across 11 communities in Kansas, which will provide high-speed internet access to nearly 23,000 families and businesses. This development addresses the local demand for enhanced connectivity in a state where only 59.9% of individuals had previous access to fiber-optic services.

The affected communities include Baldwin, Ellinwood, Fredonia, Garnett, Hillsboro, Hoisington, Holton, Horton, Junction City, Osage City, and Osawatomie. Residents can now use high-speed internet for various online activities, such as remote work and e-learning.

Brightspeed reaffirmed its focus on bridging the digital divide by replacing outdated copper infrastructure with reliable fiber networks. Carsi Mitzner, director of government affairs at Brightspeed, remarked, “Bringing our advanced fiber network to these areas is a major step forward... so customers, especially those in underserved locations, can have voice and internet service they can count on.”

At present, around 24,000 locations in Kansas are enabled for fiber service. Brightspeed intends to expand its services to over 57,000 families and small businesses as part of its ongoing efforts. The company is also actively engaging with local communities to educate them about the benefits of improved internet access.
