Advantech launches edge AI compute solutions powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite

Advantech has announced the launch of a range of edge Artificial Intelligence (AI) computing solutions, namely AOM-6731, AIMB-293, and SOM-6820, all functioning on Qualcomm's Snapdragon X Elite platform. These products are aimed at industrial applications that necessitate strong processing power alongside integrated AI capabilities.

Product Details

The new offerings harness the Snapdragon platform's 12-core and 10-core Central Processing Unit (CPU) configurations, operating at speeds of up to 3.4GHz. This setup facilitates prompt data processing while achieving a 28% reduction in power consumption in comparison to typical x86 architectures, particularly in tasks like video conferencing and web browsing.

Performance Enhancements

In addition to processing power, the solutions incorporate advanced LPDDR5X memory, which provides a speed enhancement of 1.3 times while lowering power usage by 20%. They also include UFS 4.0 storage, offering faster data transfer rates and enhanced durability suited for challenging environments.

Multimedia and Connectivity

These edge AI solutions utilize the capabilities of the Snapdragon Adreno for multimedia applications, supporting full 4K video encoding and sophisticated graphics performance. Connectivity features include built-in 802.11be (Wi-Fi 7) and 5G support, essential for efficient data streaming required in AI applications.

Availability

The AOM-6731, AIMB-293, and SOM-6820 will be available for engineering evaluations starting March 2025, equipping industries with tools to improve their edge AI capabilities.
