Wireless Infrastructure Association Urges Senate Action After House Passes H.R. 1681 and H.R. 1343

The Wireless Infrastructure Association issued a statement after the U.S. House passed H.R. 1681 and H.R. 1343, focusing on reviews and tracking tied to federal broadband deployment on federally managed lands.

WIA said the House action took steps to modernize and streamline the federal permitting process for broadband deployment on federally managed lands, linking faster federal reviews to broadband deployment and how taxpayers would see a return on federal broadband investments.

In its statement, WIA attributed support to “these commonsense permitting reforms” and referenced federal reviews, while also pointing to the Federal Broadband Deployment Tracking Act named in H.R. 1343.

WIA also said it would continue working with Congress. “WIA applauds the U.S. House of Representatives for passing bipartisan legislation that takes meaningful steps to modernize and streamline the federal permitting process for broadband deployment on federally managed lands. Streamlining federal reviews is critical to closing the digital divide and ensuring taxpayers see a return on historic federal broadband investments. WIA strongly supports these commonsense permitting reforms and urge the Senate to advance this legislation without delay. We look forward to continuing our work with Congress to ensure America’s broadband infrastructure can be built efficiently, responsibly, and at the speed today’s communities demand.”
